DAMN! She just had a show in L.A. and I missed it by, like, a week.
Kind of loaded & explosive stuff that raises all kinds of interesting questions... not the least of which are the legal ones.
There's been an increasingly restrictive legal view on exploiting the "likenesses" of celebrities for fun and profit, especially here in Kalifornia...
And I'm half-wondering if any of the offended parties might decide to take legal action...
In the U.K., where Allison (Miss Jackson, if you're nasty) apparently hails from, the legal system has a much dimmer view of rumor-mongering and "slander" than the U.S. courts. Basically, it comes down to the burden of proof -- in America, the "slandered" has to prove that, not only was the material a lie, but the lie was published knowingly and/or with malice; in the UK, the burden of proof is on the publisher of the alleged slander to back up what he printed.
Larry Flynt, of course, famously knee-capped a whole class of frivolous lawsuits of this nature when he successfully defended his right to portray Jerry Falwell as a (literally) mother-fucking deviant, taking it all the way to the Supreme Court.
But that hasn't prevented various celebrities from misusing the Courts in misguided attempts to control their image... like the Winter Bros., who took DC Comics to the mat when Texas shit-stirrer Joe Lansdale turned them into the half-worm 'Autumn Brothers' in a Jonah Hex miniseries.
Waiting for this shit to hit the fan, like Doc Martens ill-advised decision to post billboards of a boot-wearin' Kurt Cobain cooling his heels in Heaven.
i have a huge problem with paparazzi. i'd love someone to take it to those guys. they're seemingly indestructible, tho. it's like a terror network of cells, ronin and hitmen.
